Gary Montrose

Mr. Montrose has provided disease management technical assistance to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and 12 state Medicaid programs through Academy Health / State Coverage Initiatives. He assisted the State of Colorado with developing a suite of multi-agency, technology-enabled disease management and chronic care coordination programs in 2002 with some of the industry’s leading vendors. Mr. Montrose has worked with a number of Fortune 500 companies, health plans, provider organizations, trade associations, and non-profit health policy organizations. Mr. Montrose has spoken and chaired a number of industry conferences and workshops in both the private and public sectors on disease and demand management, patient-provider communication strategies, and the use of information technology to support patient self-care efforts.

In 2001 Gary conducted the first industry-wide survey of medical communication systems for an industry Benchmarking Survey co-sponsored by the Disease Management Association of America and D.C.–based Mitretek Systems (‘A Survey of Patient Call Centers and Communications Strategies: enhancing Disease Management Service Delivery,’ 11-02). Montrose is a member of the Colorado Governor’s Council on TeleHealth, has served as Co-chair of DMAA’s Technology Committee (2002-03), is Co-author of a book entitled Managing Health Care Demand, an Aspen Publication (1998), and serves as a visiting instructor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Mr. Montrose graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and completed his graduate studies in health administration and economics at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
